Our Partnership
Kayamandi Empowerment
We presented a 6 weeks acting and drama workshop after school program to children who are supported through the Kayamandi Empowerment. This NGO is located in Kayamandi Township (informal settlement), Stellenbosch, and supports youths from the community. The children were taught acting skills, group work, and camera use. The children selected topics to develop the storyline for their drama, selecting major topics around bullying, rape, child abuse, challenges in school, and violence. These issues helped us identify areas of focus and how to support and engage the children
The University Of Ghana, School Of Performing Arts
We have partnered with the University of Ghana to develop a Film series in partnership with their School of Performing Arts. The entire series, called “KpaKpaKpa” fast life, engages the students who worked on the script development and will also be cast in the series alongside top talents in the film industry in Ghana. By engaging and being part of the film series, the students learn all of the processes of film production and acting, they get the skills to write scripts and produce impactful movies on topical issues that are relevant and spread a good message as well as raising awareness. Moreover, the students also get the opportunity to develop their profiles to help them land jobs in the industry and are also provided skills training so that they can get cast in different roles.
Fundraising Support Project: Kayamandi Empowerment
YSP was instrumental in raising funding and awareness of the needs of the children participating in the Kayamandi Empowerment NGO. We helped to raise awareness of the work of the NGO and also raised funds to support the kids. We started the school shoe initiative and raised enough funding for 120 pairs of shoes. The project is now an annual initiative, and it will be expanded to other NGOs.
