About Us
Welcome to Youth Social Press
South Africa-based
MEDIA NGO
Youth Social Press Agency (NPC) is a South Africa-based Film and Media NGO dedicated to empowering young individuals through skill development initiatives while leveraging film and journalism to spotlight and address prevalent social issues impacting Africa’s youth. Our core mission revolves around nurturing youth talent and fostering awareness on critical challenges such as Social Injustice, Human Rights, Unemployment, and Poverty that disproportionately affect young people across the continent.
At YSP, we prioritize youth skill development as our primary focus, recognizing it as a pivotal avenue for personal growth and societal transformation. Through our multifaceted programs, we not only strive to inform and engage the public on pressing issues but also equip young individuals with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in the media arts sector. By offering educational opportunities and practical training, we aim to empower the next generation of African filmmakers and journalists, ultimately contributing to the advancement and revitalization of the African Film Industry.
In addition to our aforementioned initiatives, we offer a dedicated social networking platform and online community that is meticulously tailored to meet the needs of young individuals. Our platform serves as a virtual space where young people can effortlessly connect, share ideas, and engage with their peers. We have thoughtfully incorporated features that strongly resonate with young users, including seamless multimedia sharing, real-time communication capabilities, and engaging interactive content. Our platform is purposefully designed to cater specifically to the preferences and distinct requirements of younger audiences, ensuring an exceptional user experience.
At YSP, we strongly believe in the principle of Ubuntu, which is evident through our partnerships. We strive to create opportunities for greater impact by sharing skills, knowledge, and resources, as well as amplifying the voices of others. Through collaborations with other NGOs and third-sector organizations in Africa, we create documentaries that showcase their work and the remarkable impact they are making.
By utilizing documentaries to educate the public, promote their initiatives, and document their activities, these organizations can raise awareness, secure funding for their projects, and inspire individuals to take action.
Help is Our Goal
What Makes Us Different
Core Mission
To empower youth to engage and participate in addressing social issues challenging the African continent such as inequality, gender-based violence and all types of discrimination. To upskill young people in the arts of filmmaking and journalism, and to contribute to the transformation of the African film industry
Core Vision
To be the leading voice for African Youth in expressing ideas, opinions on important and unpopular social-economic, political and environmental issues through cinematography and journalism as powerful mediums of communication.
Why
Because, Africa is the youngest continent and its youth are challenged by many socio-economic, political and environmental issues. Their participation in addressing and solving these challenges, particularly those less talked about and taboo subjects, is critical to the development of and in changing perceptions about the continent. Our youth must be activated to take part in transforming the continent.
How Do We Get There?
We use film and journalism as a tool to highlight societal issues; engage the youth and the public through dialogue and curation of content to find ways to resolve these issues. Through involving the youth in the creation of video and photographic content, we train and transfer skills in cinematography and journalism to young people.
